Xbox Game Pass Crossplay Games

You have Game Pass. Your friend has a PS5. This is the overlap.

The question behind this page is a specific one: which Game Pass games can I play with friends who are not on Xbox? It needs two things to be true at once. The game has to be in the Game Pass catalog right now, so you are not paying for it, and it has to have real crossplay, so a friend on PlayStation, PC or Switch can join. Plenty of Game Pass games have one of those. This list is the ones that have both.

Two honesty notes before the picks. First, Game Pass rotates: games join and leave every month, so every title here was checked against Microsoft's own catalog listing on September 15, 2026, and that date is the shelf life of this page. The Xbox store page for any game says “Included with Game Pass” when it is, and that is the final word on the day you play. Second, crossplay is the game's feature, not the subscription's. Game Pass does not add crossplay to anything; it just means you can try a crossplay game without buying it. Your friends on other platforms still need their own copy, which is why every pick carries a live price for the person who has to buy it.

Which Game Pass plan you need

Xbox currently sells four plans - Essential, Premium, Ultimate and PC Game Pass- and the libraries are different sizes. Xbox's own plan page describes Essential as “50+ games”, Premium as “200+” and Ultimate as “500+”, and only Ultimate and PC Game Pass advertise “new games on day one”. So a game being “on Game Pass” can still mean it is not on yourGame Pass. The clearest example is Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which Activision's own support page limits to “Game Pass Ultimate or Game Pass PC subscriptions” - it is a full-crossplay game and it is on Game Pass, but not on Essential or Premium, which is why it is not in the table above. Check the plan before you promise a friend a game night.

The pick, if you only read one entry

Sea of Thieves is the Game Pass crossplay game. It has been in the catalog since it launched, it is Xbox Play Anywhere (subscribe or buy once, play on console and PC), and it reached PS5 in April 2024 with cross-platform play - so a crew of Xbox, PC and PlayStation players can sail the same ship. Everyone signs in with a Microsoft account, PlayStation players need PS Plus, and the shared world holds up to 24 players. It is now sold as the 2026 Edition, which is the same game with some bonus digital media. The catch is that it is a slow, social pirate sandbox with real player-versus-player boarding; a crew that wants a structured co-op campaign should look at Halo instead.

Minecraftis the other no-brainer, for the opposite reason: it is the most broadly cross-platform game in existence. Xbox's page lists cross-platform play across PC, Android, iOS, Xbox and Switch, and the PC Game Pass catalog carries the Java and Bedrock edition. Whoever your friends are and whatever they own, Minecraft is the one everyone can join.

How to read each pick

Every card lists the platforms the game is on, its crossplay statement, and a player count, all from the official store page linked under the card. For this page specifically, read the crossplay line carefully: “full crossplay” means your PlayStation friend can join; “PC + Xbox” means they cannot. Deep Rock Galactic is the important case - it is on Game Pass and it has crossplay, but only between PC and Xbox, with PlayStation players in a separate pool. Good for a PC friend, useless for a PS5 one.

The picks, by who you are playing with

A friend on PS5. Sea of Thieves, Minecraft, Halo: Campaign Evolved (online co-op with crossplay and shared progression - two-player split-screen is console-only and does not need crossplay at all), Human: Fall Flat, Among Us, Dead by Daylight, Moving Out 2, PowerWash Simulator 2 and Genshin Impact all bridge Xbox and PlayStation. Halo is the newest of them and the one most likely to be a day-one, Ultimate-tier question - it is an Xbox-published game, so check your plan.

A friend on PC. Everything above, plus Deep Rock Galactic, which is the best four-player co-op on the list for a PC-and-Xbox crew. Several of these are also on PC Game Pass, so a PC friend with their own subscription may not need to buy anything either - the PC catalog listed Minecraft, Sea of Thieves, Halo, Human: Fall Flat, Among Us, Deep Rock Galactic, Moving Out 2, Dead by Daylight, PowerWash Simulator 2 and Genshin Impact on the check date.

A friend on Switch. The list narrows. Minecraft, Human: Fall Flat, Among Us, Dead by Daylight and Moving Out 2 are the Game Pass picks here that also run on Switch with crossplay; PowerWash Simulator 2 is on Switch too. A friend who owns nothing. Among Us and Genshin Impact are free on phones and have crossplay, so the friend with no console can join from the sofa. Neither costs you anything either, Game Pass or not - they are on the list because they are in the catalog, but the honest note is that you do not need the subscription to play them.

What Game Pass does and does not save you

For the subscriber, the saving is the game itself: you try a crossplay game without buying it, and if the group moves on next month you have lost nothing. The two things it does not cover are your friends' copies - a PS5 friend buys Sea of Thieves on the PlayStation Store, a PC friend on Steam or with their own PC Game Pass - and, on Xbox, the multiplayer entitlement, which every current plan includes (Xbox's plan page lists “online console multiplayer” on Essential, Premium and Ultimate). Setting it up

Most of these games use a publisher account to find friends across platforms rather than the console's friends list - a Microsoft account for Sea of Thieves, Halo and Minecraft, a HoYoverse account for Genshin Impact, the in-game friends list for Among Us and Dead by Daylight. Create the account, link it on each platform, and add friends inside the game. If the game you wanted is not here

It is one of three things. It is on Game Pass but has no crossplay (Stardew Valley, It Takes Two, LEGO Star Wars, Rayman Legends - all in the catalog, all same-platform or couch-only). It has crossplay but is not on Game Pass (Helldivers 2, Split Fiction, Borderlands 4, Monster Hunter Wilds, Overcooked! All You Can Eat - the catalog carries Overcooked! 2, not the All You Can Eat edition). Or it is on a plan you do not have, like Black Ops 7 on Ultimate and PC Game Pass only.
